Math Attack Home Page
As a first-year teacher, MATH ATTACK, is a book that I would recommend to another novice in the field. In the future I plan to use a great deal of concepts brought up to help students enjoy math more. Being a novice, there were many things that I was not aware of, but thanks to MATH ATTACK, I hope to offer my students some ease so that they can give more back to me.
(Pamela D. Rogers, Mathematics Teacher)

Who Said What

At our Math Attack workshop held during the Philadelphia Math Teacher's Conference, an attendee stated that Marilyn Curtain-Phillips' style of facilitation put her "at ease" and "was a pleasure" right from the start. Another attendee promised to try using the manipulatives (Marilyn used) with her class. Other attendees stated that workshop techniques were "sensible ideas" and promoted "good classroom management" and are "inexpensive solutions". Marilyn enjoys helping educators discover alternative ways to make teaching and learning math fun.

"Reducing Math Anxiety" Workshops

In our workshops, you will learn the causes of math anxiety and learn effective techniques on how to reduce math anxiety. You will also learn about various learning styles, including your own, and the impact your learning style has on your classroom instruction delivery. You will experience hands-on activities, from a multi-cultural perspective, that you can use immediately in your classroom. Our active algebra workshops show educators how to use effective teaching strategies to help students who struggle with algebra.

We develop custom manipulative exercises and solutions that meet your state and school district’s core curriculum. Contact us today for more details!

Classroom Management – Methods to Change Disruptive Students to Motivated, Active Learners

In order to gain and maintain control of your classroom environment, you the educator, must become familiar with your students and their parents- just the same, your students with one another. Furthermore, knowing your student’s preferred learning style is beneficial. Image that the majority of your students are preferred kinesthetic (hands-on) learners. Then image how effective you would be motivating your students and maintaining their attention if you use the appropriate teaching style, one which offers more hands-on learning activities. The result can lead to a more controlled, fun classroom with fewer disruptions. Manipulatives like our Math Attack playing cards can help you transform your lecture-driven classroom to an exciting learning-focused environment.
